Classic-Computers.org.nz This webspace is devoted to the computers and computing culture of those years, from my own personal perspective and often with a “down under” flavour. The reason for its existence is to preserve some history before it’s forgotten by those of us that were there, or so it can be discovered by those that weren’t. If you enjoy retro-computing, there is likely to be something on this site for you!

Daves Old Computers I have been involved in the computer industry since the mid 1970′s, and I have seen many different machines and architectures come and go. Along the way I used and worked with a lot of them. The computer industry is one of the fastest changing fields there is, and in this headlong rush toward “progress”, the roots from which we have grown are often forgotten. It is a personal interest of mine to document and preserve some of those historic machines which “got us here”.

DigiBarn Computer Museum – Northern California, USA The DigiBarn Computer Museum seeks to capture personal stories and track technological evolution through a large collection of vintage computer systems, manuals, videos, interviews, and other fossil relics of the “Cambrian explosion” of personal computing that ignited in 1975. Thus the interconnected redwood rooms of the museum constitute a kind of “memory palace” for the nerd-inclined and help us piece together the amazing story of the invention of personal computing and Cyberspace.

Old Computer Museum On this site you will be able to see my collection of vintage computers. I have started collecting computers some time ago, when a co-worker gave me his old IBM PC. That computer (you will see it in the collection) started a hobby and the entire collection. The other computers in my collection were ether donated by individuals, purchased on garage sales or through the Ebay auctions. All computers shown on this site are real and in good working condition, unless it says otherwise.

The Vintage Computer This web site is dedicated to collecting, restoring and simply playing with old (A.K.A. vintage, classic, antique, outdated or just plain junk) computers. Like many in the computer age, I cut my teeth on computer systems that represent the dawn of the computer revolution. Some of these systems, such as the Altair 8800, Apple ][ and IBM PC have tons of historical significance. Others, such as the Atari 800, Osborne 1, Kaypro 2x and Dec Pro 350 have less historical but more personal significance (at least to me). All of these systems do, however, have one thing in common. They all take up some room in my home and often get time on the workbench to strut their stuff.
